Answer: Road to Damascus

According to Scripture, Paul was travelling on the road to Damascus when he had his dramatic encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. The life-changing incident is documented in Acts 9:1-19.

According to the passage, Paul, who was known as Saul at the time, encountered a brilliant light that blinded him for three days. Only when he was baptized did he regain his sight.

Paul would go on to become the apostle to the Gentiles.

Ananias was told to go to Straight Street to baptize Paul after the apostle to the Gentiles had a dramatic encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus. According to Acts 9:11, Paul, who was known as Saul at the time, was staying in the house of Judas. However, no information is given about Judas.

There are three different men called Ananias in the New Testament and interestingly they are all mentioned in the Book of Acts.

The second Ananias was the husband of Sapphira and he and his wife were struck dead after lying about donating all the proceeds from the sale of their property to the early church. (See Acts 5:1-11)

The third Ananias was the high priest, as per Acts 23:2.

Answer: Jeremiah

Jeremiah is the correct answer. It`s a bit of a long story, but Jerusalem was under siege by the Babylonians at the time. By placing Jeremiah in the courtyard of the prison it would help ensure his survival. The king also ordered that daily a piece of bread from the bakers' street was to be given to Jeremiah until "all the bread in the city was gone".

It appears a number of bakers in Jerusalem had set up shop on a specific street, hence the informal name bakers' street. However, no further details are given about the street.

Answer: God

The instructions to the Israelites were given by God. Deuteronomy 13:16 in the NKJV reads this way: "And you shall gather all its plunder into the middle of the street, and completely burn with fire the city and all its plunder, for the Lord your God. It shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again."

Using the NKJV, this is the only time the word 'street' appears in Deuteronomy. However, the word 'road' appears seven times.

Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the Old Testament and is largely about how the Israelites should conduct themselves when in the Promised Land.

Answer: an Angel of the Lord

Balaam's donkey refused to proceed down a road to Moab as it saw an Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His sword in His hand. Balaam, however, could not see the Angel and became angry with the donkey when it veered off the road into a field.

Scripture goes on to tell of Balaam beating the helpless donkey and then miraculously the animal became able to speak.

Finally, Balaam was able to see the Angel of the Lord blocking the roadway.

Scripture says: "Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face."

Answer: Cleopas

Cleopas is the correct answer, as per Luke 24:18.

According to Scripture, Cleopas and his unnamed friend were walking on the road to Emmaus, a village about seven miles from Jerusalem, when "Jesus Himself drew near and went with them." However, their eyes were "restrained" and they did not recognize Him.

Later, when Jesus entered their home and broke bread with them, "their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight."

Answer: Philip

Philip received instructions from an angel to head south to a road that connected Jerusalem and Gaza.

Interestingly, Philip met up with the Ethiopian eunuch who was travelling in a chariot on the road and after climbing aboard, he was able to convert the man to Christianity.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, the Philip in this question is Philip the evangelist and is not to be confused with Philip, one of the original twelve disciples.

Answer: two unnamed disciples

Two unnamed disciples were instructed by Jesus to get a "colt tied by the door outside on the street", according to Scripture.

Mark 11:2-3 in the N KJV explains things this way: "...and He said to them, 'Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it..,'"

Sure enough, that's exactly what happened.

Similar accounts can be found in Matthew 2:1-7 and Luke 19:29-36.

It's impossible to find out the names of the two disciples who were sent to get the colt, but some theologians believe they may have Peter and John, who were later given instructions by Jesus pertaining to the Passover meal.

Answer: Jerusalem and Jericho

The road in question connected Jerusalem and Jericho, as per Luke 10:30. The story in question is known as the Parable of the Good Samaritan, one of the most popular parables in the Bible. It is perhaps surpassed in popularity by only the Parable of the Prodigal Son.

According to the parable, an unnamed man was travelling from Jerusalem to Jericho when thieves "stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead."

Amazingly two people passed by the man and offered no assistance. One was a priest and the other was a Levite.

After all this, a Samaritan passed by. Scripture, in the NKJV, states the Samaritan "...went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.'"

Answer: New Jerusalem

The correct answer is the New Jerusalem. Details of the city are outlined in Revelation 21:9-26. According to the passage, the city will be a heavenly place without any sorrow or grief.

John, the author of Revelations, states "an angel showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God."

In Verses 21 and 22 in the NKJV, John also states this about the New Jerusalem: "But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light."
